Facilities + Services

Housing: Private housing (individual room in work/living loft) Visiting artists-in-residence are provided with a private, furnished live/work space. Rooftop is accesible (not for work). For the moment there is not wheelchair accessible. Smoking is not allowed indoors.

Companions: Spouses/partners allowed for full stay, no children or pets allowed.

Equipment: Mitter Saw, work table and basic tools

Residency Fees

studio 401 newyork works in partnership with patrons, donors and private establishments to fund invited visiting artists. There is no cost at all for the residency. The artists must donate artwork to the residency program. Materials and transportation are not provided. Funding for each residency is on case by case basis, many artists have access to funding through their cultural ministries or other local programs, we provide information and tools, and encourage artists to apply to cover their expenses through various funding programs. 

Additional expectations / opportunities

Studio 401 in Partnership with Galleries and Curators invite the artists to exhibit their work in a solo show (subject to availability), as well as studio visits with curators and professionals in the field, documentation of their work and practice. Artists are encourage to prepare artist talk or presentation of their work while in the program.
